About and Contact

This site was created when the owner, Sergio, (that’s me!) decided to digitize a bunch of cassette tapes for his father. These were mix tapes made in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. The best tapes had lovingly written jcards and labels, which made it easy to catalog them.

Sadly, many were missing jcards and labels altogether. What a shame! I decided to create new, clean, vector versions from the ones I had, print them out, and write new labels. Beautiful!

That work lead me to the Tapeheads.net forums, where it quickly became apparent others were doing this too, but there wasn’t a central repository for these files. This means people had to search for this individually. So, Tape Art Repros was made!

This site is for providing reproductions of jcards, cassette labels, and cassette packaging. It is not a historical archive.

If you need scans or other historical references for compact cassettes, I recommend:

Where Does the Art Come From?

These reproductions are done by the hard work of contributors, mostly from the TapeHeads forums, who take the time to hand-trace scans of original artwork. This is a time consuming process and they should be thanked for their efforts! Contributors for each piece have been listed for each page.

Just as important are those across the web (some examples listed above) who take the time to scan and process the original paper versions of these items. Without those, reproductions would be impossible. When available, those image and scan sources are listed on each page.
